At Arnys

All the young editors hit Colette when in Paris. Too bad. If they really want to experience the craft of clothing, they should stop by Arnys. Like Charvet, the shop is a Paris institution. Although I cannot say I'm crazy about the styling or design, the sheer artistry of the clothes is incredible. I see guys from a place like Colette on the street a million times a day in Paris and New York, but a guy like Jean Grimbert of Arnys, above, is so original, unconventional, and unique.

I can't even imagine how long they have been making hats like these.

There is something about a custom-made, hand-sewn hunting cape that's more subversive than anything I've seen on a runway by Dior or Raf Simons.

The Internet has created a subculture of gentleman who love to discuss the minutiae of handmade garments. Somewhere, there's a guy who's very excited about this bit of "tailor porn."

A hand-stitched, unlined, seven-fold tie. The edges are a little uneven, and without a lining, the silk is a bit crumpled. There's a bit of a homemade feel, which to me makes it all the more beautiful.

web sites:
Hello,
I'm a french guy who love your pictures and all of your work ; if I can give you another adress in Paris, go to Cifonelli, 31 de la rue Marbeuf.
I think it's an other "rıfırence".
I've never goes to Arnys but I like many clothes of them, like the "Solferino", but strangely not the classical "Forestiıre" of Arnys.
Sorry for my bad english.
Best regards,
Damien.

Those ties are unspeakably gorgeous. They make me want to throw all my ties away. God, that's fantastic.
