Q: I say that cuff links and belt buckles should match. A colleague of mine says it doesnt matter. If you are wearing gold or silver cuff links or colored cuff links with gold or silver trim, shouldnt your belt buckle match in tone?
A: In a perfect world, where we have every accessory we desire and valets to polish our chrome, yes, youd probably tend to match them. But in this age, when people fly first-class wearing NBA warm-up suits and wear cowboy boots with tuxedos, well, were just happy you have a shirt on. If the links are solid silver or gold, you should probably match them to the tone of your belt buckle, but if the metal is the backing for enamel or the mounting for something, then matching matters very little.
