Q: I ride my bicycle to work; I like to keep my carbon footprint light and my waistline slim. But I always turn up looking hot and disheveled. What can I do for a quick freshen-up?

A: I’m guessing the executive washroom doesn’t have showers. If I were you, I would slow down on the way to work and double-time on the way back. You can also stash a washcloth, some deodorant, and cologne in your desk drawer, maybe a small bottle of refreshing witch hazel, and even a crisp spare shirt. I don’t know about you, but I subscribe to Thomas Jefferson’s aphorism: “Nothing gives one person so much advantage over another as to remain always cool and unru±ed under all circumstances.”
