Q: Can I wear trousers that have belt loops without a belt? Or must I have a pair of pants without belt loops to go beltless? Thanks for any tips you could send my way.

A: I think wearing trousers with loops and no belt looks sloppy, unless you’re wearing suspenders. (And not clip-ons!) Even then the loops look redundant. And wearing a belt and suspenders looks not only redundant but positively pessimistic. That’s why I love side tabs for waist adjustment, but usually these are only available on custom-tailored clothing. Go with a belt, if only for show.
