Jason Pomeranc's long-delayed Thompson Beverly Hills still hasn't opened—next week, we're told—but at least the Jenni Kayne-designed uniforms are ready. Main staffers get chocolate-colored tropical wool suits paired with ivory shirts, while front-of-house employees get canvas chinos, ivory shirts trimmed with epaulettes, and dark-brown wool car coats—for those nights when temps drop to a chilly 64. "Jason wanted the uniforms to be as much a part of the overall statement as Dodd [Mitchell]'s architecture," Kayne says. On that front, expect deep brown leathers and woods; floors made from ebonized white oak hardwood and herringbone-patterned concrete; burled maple desks; a private library; and custom platform beds with mirrored "elements" on the ceiling. Guess that means the 107-room property won't resemble the address's former occupant: a Best Western.
