Though two of them, thankfully, can also play pretty good: The Hives keep their garage-rock shtick surprisingly fresh on Black and White Album, while The Killers somehow roped Lou Reed into lending guest vocals to Sawdust, a laidback odds-and-sods collection that manages to surpass last year's more polished sophomore effort. Duran Duran's Red Carpet Massacre, on the other hand, lives up to its title. In other CD news, here's a tip for anyone who likes comedy: You can safely skip Dane Cook's latest, Rough Around the Edges.
