Mad about Yoo

Among the menswear nominees at GenArt's 10th Anniversary Styles Fashion and Awards show tonight: Hyden Yoo. The New York-based designer started his line four years ago afterthat old storywinning $50,000 on Fear Factor. (The, er, highlight of his experience was sucking a goat's teat.) He debuted with shirting before moving into outerwear in 2005. But his fall '08 collection (pictured) is his first full line, with trousers, shorts, blazers, jackets, and knitwear. The clothes tread a careful line between edgy and wearable, which makes sense, given Yoo's stated mission to serve both Brooklyn hipsters and guys "in the corporate arena who see crazy pieces and say 'I can't wear this.'" Should he take home tonight's prize, he'll be in good company: Past editions helped launch Duckie Brown, Cloak, and Obedient Sons. Better yet: No goats are involved.
