The surprisingly long shelf life of "Cybill"

Strange but true: Cybill Shepherd's eponymous mid-nineties sitcom has turned out to be an unexpected talent farm. First, Alan Ball based the frustrations of American Beauty's iconic Lester Burnham on his own experiences writing for the show, and now another one of the show's writers is mining his travails for material. As part of a CBS crossover stunt, Chuck Lorre (the evil mastermind behind Two and a Half Men) has cowritten Thursday's CSI: Las Vegas. The plot? A blonde "sitcom diva" gets murdered, and everyone who works on the show is a suspect. (The episode's even called "Two and a Half Deaths.") Revengebest enjoyed ice-cold, and all that. And, hey, it's gotta be funnier than tonight's Two and a Half Men, written by the crew from CSI.
