Him write funny again

As you've probably heard, renowned memoirist David Sedaris will release his latest book of essays, When You Are Engulfed in Flames, tomorrow. The collection's well worth the read, and includes a typically hilarious account of Sedaris's three-month stay in Tokyo, where he quit smoking—harder than it sounds, especially in Japan. The book's rollout plan isn't the most over-the-top, perhaps because many of the essays have been published before; it's certainly nothing like the publicity stunt pulled yesterday by author Tung Desem Waringin, who dropped the equivalent of about $10,700 from a plane over the Indonesian city of Serang to promote his new book, Marketing Revolution. Hey, if you're not going to be excerpted in The New Yorker, you've got to get the word out somehow, we guess.

It's easier to promote books over the internet than from an airplane.
