Helmut Lang's austere designs have long made him a favorite of the art world; now he's set to join them. Beginning Sunday, an exhibit of the fashion legend's mixed-media sculpture, Alles Gleich Schwer, will open at the Kestnergesellschaft gallery in Hanover. Germany not in your travel plans? Not to worry: On September 30, the entire exhibit will be viewable online, on a Web site sponsored by Absolut, Lang's old partner. (They collaborated on the 1995 ad "Absolut Lang," shot by Helmut Newton.) Consider this news heartening on two fronts: It's great to have Lang back in any medium, and it's comforting to know that alcohol will, in fact, always be there for you.
