Turns out it's not a mirage
Desert-loving travelers, finally a museum just for you: the Rafael Viñoly-designed Museum of Modern Arab Art, set to be completed in Doha, Qatar, by 2011. The structure fits perhaps too perfectly into the landscape: With a design that resembles a sand dune and has elements of a desert tent, it's, well, easy to miss. Then again, with a founding collection of more than 10,000 pieces of Arab art and antiquities, the medium is very literally the message. Whether or not birds fly into it is another question entirely.
