A YSL bounty from around 4,000 seasons back

Christie's has revealed some choice bits from Pierre Bergé and the late Yves Saint Laurent's art collection, set to hit the block this February. Everything from Matisse's Le Danseur (pictured) to a first-century Roman Minotaur sculpture will be up for grabs, not to mention works by Picasso, Mondrian, and an Old Master or two. With this kind of haul, it's easy to imagine why the sale is expected to bring in up to $440 million; and since the proceeds will go to charity, it's easy to feel good about spending it, toothat is, if you (still) can.
The Pierre Bergé and Yves Saint Laurent collection will be auctioned at Christie's Paris on Feb. 23-25, 2009; the collection goes on view at Christie's New York Nov. 5-7, 2008.
