Den was founded to spotlight the work of one designer at a time, but between its most recent installation (of Shipley and Halmos) and its next (Richard Chai), the shop's taking a break from apparel to catch up on its reading: From this week until the beginning of next year, Artbook holds court, offering a curated selection of (you guessed it) high-end art books. Works available range from retrospective volumes on everyone from the classic (Courbet and Kahlo) to the contemporary (Richter, Twombly, and Gary Panter) to limited-edition collectibles like Andy Warhol's Red Books, a wooden box of 11 Warhol-lensed Polaroid albums. But bookworms, take note: The minuscule shop, though fine for browsing, doesn't exactly favor lengthy perusing.
