Getting Fit Online
Custom cashmere via the Internet
March 8, 2006If you love high-end cashmere sweaters but hate the boxy shapes that too many of them seem to come in, here’s a welcome development. French shirtmaker Liste Rouge has just launched a line of custom cashmere. What’s more, it’s the first service of its kind available over the Internet, and the ordering process is so simple even our new fashion intern (DeVry, ’04) figured it out. First, choose your color from one of 33 options (from natural beige to raspberry red), select a style (crew, V-neck, turtleneck, or zip-up, the last of which can be ordered with snappy contrasting collar), and then decide between two- or four-ply fabric (with spring theoretically right around the corner, we recommend the former). Finally, and most importantly, to ensure a proper fit, take measurements of the chest, back, and sleeve length from a favorite sweater, and type them in. The results are ready in six to seven weeks, with prices ranging from just under $500 to $740. Hardly cheap, but worth it for a pullover that doesn’t make you look three months pregnant.
$490-$740, available from www.listerouge-paris.com or at the Liste Rouge Showroom, 65 Broadway, Suite 835/838, NYC, (212) 635-4315.
