An ode to the Playboy cartoon caption

December 28, 2006—Longtime Playboy illustrator Eldon Dedini was known for his colorful depictions of busty women, randy men, and the occasional barnyard animal. As the new collection, An Orgy of Playboy’s Eldon Dedini, demonstrates, his captions were also pretty entertaining on their own. A few examples:

“I did her in oil, I did her in bronze, I did her in terra-cotta. I also did her in Phoenix, Fresno, and Chicago.”

“Relax, Ebenezer. I’m the ghost of Christmas yet to come.”

“Personally, I’ve always subscribed to the ‘Big Bang Theory’ of the origin of the universe.”

“Well, it’s a wild-life sanctuary, isn’t it?”

“We don’t advertise—our salon has grown by word of mouth.”

“What do you mean, you’re not that kind of girl?”

“C’mon, fess up—you tampered with that fortune cookie.”
