Want to be the first to see men.style.com’s latest style, gear and media news? This FAQ will show you how and will answer some of the common questions about men.style.com’s content feeds.
What is RSS?
Depending on whom you ask, the acronym RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication," "Rich Site Summary," or any of a handful of other terms. An RSS feed (also known as a content feed) is a site’s syndicated content feed, which you can subscribe to, using a news reader. You can also use a Web-based news reader such as My Yahoo!, My AOL, or My MSN.
RSS uses an XML code that constantly scans the content of a Web site for updates and then broadcasts those updates to all subscribers through a feed. Syndication means you don’t have to visit each site individually to see what’s new – you simply scan headlines or brief article summaries and click to read the full text. That’s the "really simple" part.
What are feeds?
A feed (or RSS content feed) is a listing of a Web site’s content. It is updated whenever new content is published to the site. You can "subscribe" to feeds, which means Web sites download lists of stories and present them to you in your feed reader. All news feeds will have a link back to the Web site, so if you see a headline, show or story you like, you can click on the link and be taken to the Web site to read it.
Why do I want them?
RSS feeds are useful for keeping you updated on your favorite Web sites. Because our men.style.com feeds update as new features and stories are added to the site, you get up-to-the-minute information. RSS feeds are used by people who appreciate the convenience of receiving breaking news and reports and the time saved by reading only those updates that interest them.
Using a news reader for your Web media means you need to visit a Web site only when you see a story in your news reader that interests you. Your news reader will automatically check for updates and let you know when there is a new story to read.
