Remember back in late June when owning one of these things actually set you apart from the pack? That might well have been the best five minutes ever. Now that e-mails "sent from my iPhone" have gone from cutting edge to ubiquitous to borderline pathetic, all that's left to do is evaluate the thing as a gadget. And? Well, as you may have heard, it's all about that fancy, 3.5-inch touch screen, which, though not great for high-volume e-mail, puts the Web, not to mention photos, music, and phone functions, right at your fingertips. Just make sure you stick close to a Wi-Fi hot spot—AT&T's feeble EDGE network means that firing up a YouTube video can take longer than making one.
