For a moment, it looked as though the Instinct would go toe-to-toe (touchscreen-to-touchscreen?) with Jobs and Co.'s humble offering. Then Apple announced the iPhone 2, and the Instinct became another also-ran. But what an also-ran: It's tricked out with handy features like voice command, which lets you make calls and even send emails just by dictating them into the phone. You'll appreciate that after struggling with the touchscreen, which still isn't quite, er, instinctive—despite the so-called haptic feedback, which produces a physical response every time you tap the surface.
