Cannondale Bad Boy Ultra

After getting its start in 1971 making bike trailers in a loft above a pickle factory (seriously), Cannondale finally got around to making actual bikes in 1983. Since then the company has embraced all the quirkiness its backstory would imply. Case in point: the name "Bad Boy Ultra," which, we're happy to report, is entirely apt. Superb disc brakes, a front shock, and low handlebars all give this ride a mountain-bike feel, even if you're dodging traffic instead of trees. Unfortunately, its ride is less than smooth, a flaw amplified by a hard, uninviting saddle.
