Electra Amsterdam

Since launching in 1993, this California upstart has quickly gained traction in the market with its sporty, hot rod–inspired cruisers. The Amsterdam typifies its approach—classic styling (note the brown faux-leather seat and grips) paired with smart utility-minded touches (black rear mudguard, the Shimano Revo shifter). It also rides pretty comfortably, thanks to a supple steel frame and smart geometry, which makes sitting upright easy. Though consider yourself warned: That same geometry can make riding uphill while carrying a heavy load a somewhat sketchy proposition.
