BMW M6

How to put this...well, let's just say that opinions on the BMW's latest M6 are far from uniform. On the one hand are the purists, who call this Bimmer an overpriced, plus-size eyesore burdened with the iDrive knob from hell and a sequential-manual gearbox that can't get out of its own way. On the other are those who call the M6 a luxurious, head-turning, corner-carving thrill ride that happens to go faster than any other production BMW ever sold. Spoiler alert: They're both right. From some angles, it's a pure expression of designer Chris Bangle's forward-looking aesthetic. From others? Let's just say this Bimmer's got back. And while the M6 ain't light (two tons, even with all its carbon fiber and compound body parts), its F1-derived V-10 engine is a very potent motivator. Especially when you've hit its power button, which, like an amp that goes to 11, takes horsepower from 400 up to 500. A gimmick? Absolutely, but one we could get used to.
