The fifth-generation Mustang may be the only "retro" styled car on the road that doesn't look like a piece of rolling kitsch. If anything, it manages to conjure the past glories of the 'Stang in a genuinely modern form. But enough about that. Let's talk about brute force. In its GT incarnation, the '08 Mustang boasts a free-revving 300-horsepower V-8 under its hood—good enough for zero-to-60 times of 4.8 seconds. Is it refined? Hardly: Despite its recent provenance, the live-axle Mustang doesn't even have independent rear suspension. But something tells us your typical Mustang GT buyer is more interested in all those horsepower than in the type of axle used to transform it into tire smoke.
