Pioneer Kuro PDP FD Series
As much as we love to poke holes in received wisdom, we've got to admit that Pioneer really does make a great plasma. As for the name Kuro, it's Japanese word for black, which explains more than the set's sleek, monochrome aestheticsyou'd be hard-pressed to find a plasma to rival the blacks produced by this set. Yes, these 1080p big-screens come at a premium, but they also deliver top-tier tech in addition to their unsurpassed picture qualitya nifty sensor that reads the room and adjusts brightness accordingly, four HDMI inputs, and Pioneer's PureCinema technology, which triples the refresh rate of high-def DVDs. Kuro is the new black indeed.
