As a genre, racing games are especially susceptible to the old problem of being either too hard for amateurs or too easy for serious gamers. But with F1 Sony has managed a nice balance between the two, well, poles. There are enough driving assists (like traction control and automatic spin recovery) to keep novices in the race, but the details should please the serious racing enthusiast—close your eyes while listening to your engine purr, and you might just think you're in Monza.
