Guitar Hero

All hype aside, when it comes down to it, Guitar Hero isn't much more than a high-tech (and, yes, higher satisfaction) version of air guitar, with songs ("War Pigs," "More Than a Feeling") seemingly culled from Boogie Nights' "Awesome Mix #6." Winning is more about timing than talent—Rage Against the Machine guitarist (and future Guitar Hero "character") Tom Morello has claimed that friends regularly "kick my ass on my own riffs." But both those facts only add to its appeal. Not into solo acts? Watch out for the developer's next project: Rock Band, which includes controls for drums, bass, and vocals.
