As the only football sim licensed by the NFL—which helped make last year's version 2006's best-selling game—Madden is honor-bound not to suck. The good news is it doesn't, though the '08 version continues the franchise's tradition of offering marginal improvements rather than wholesale revisions. New (and incremental) features include a performance enhancer (of the legal variety) called Weapons, which boosts subtle real-life skills like Keyshawn Johnson's ability to make a catch over the middle, and an expanded front-office mode, which now lets you control concession-stand prices. Suddenly, a ten-dollar beer doesn't sound half bad.
