El Tesoro de Don Felipe

El Tesoro de Don Felipe
Like his grandfather before him, third-generation master distiller Carlos Camarena makes El Tesoro the old-fashioned way, using agave plants that he personally selects. The agave is then steamed in brick ovens and crushed with a traditional stone wheel. From there, it's stowed away in American oak bourbon barrels for three years. No water is added to dilute the liquor during aging (making it the agave equivalent of cask-strength scotch and allowing El Tesoro to call itself the "last handcrafted tequila on earth"). The result: an añejo that comes at you with wood, fruit, and floral notes followed by a serious agave punch.
