Louis Roederer Cristal

Originally created for Czar Alexander II of Russia in 1876, Cristal is still fit for a king (or an oligarch). It's expensive and elusive, with very little produced each year, and all about finesse over power. Cristal is also at its best 10 to 15 years after bottling, when its clenched teeth relax, the sharp citrus palate turns soft, and a seamless richness develops. A side note: Thanks to its distinctive packaging (clear glass in an opaque cellophane wrapper, to protect it from UV and fluorescent light), Cristal may be tempting bling to go with the ring, but you're better off saving it for the seven-year itch. Another side note: you may want to pick a different brand if she's a Jay-Z fan.
