Domaine Méo-Camuzet Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes

As far as sleepy little French farming villages go, real estate in Vosne-Romanée is on the pricier side. (Many of its five-acre parcels would sell for hundreds of millions of dollars, if anyone were foolish enough to sell.) The prices are justified: The area produces some of the best wines in the world. In the 2002 vintage (a great year all around for Burgundies), Domaine Méo-Camuzet made a particularly noteworthy Premier Cru, the Les Chaumes. Like all red Burgundies, this one is all Pinot Noir, with hints of earth and spice on the palate and a spicy finish. And if the 2002 is unavailable, ask for the almost-as-tasty 2004—not to be flip, but your colleagues probably won't even recognize the difference.
