Does Lagavulin have the best nose of any whisky? Johnny Depp seems to think so. He's reportedly given up hard liquor, but that doesn't stop him from ordering the occasional dram of Lagavulin just so he can breathe in its peaty bouquet. At 16, Lagavulin is the oldest of the big three heavily peated whiskies from Islay. Some argue that peat works better in younger whiskies. We beg to differ—this is simply a richer, fuller, and more rewarding drink than some of its younger cousins.
