Based at Easter Elchies House, a grandiose structure high above the River Spey, the Macallan has a long and colorful past stretching back 300 years. What matters most, however, is what goes on there now: the production of some of the world's finest single malts. While some may prefer the label's more well-known quaffsfull-bodied, peat-free whiskies aged in Spanish sherry casks handmade for the distillery in Jerezthe more recently introduced Fine Oak line is equally tasty. Brimming with overripe fruits and a perfect balance of malt and wood, the 15 is a fine example of whisky craftsmanship.
