Porsche Design P'6510 Chronograph P'011

Ferdinand Alexander Porsche himself personally designed this watch—his firm's first timepiece—some 30 years ago. And it reflects the auto legend's flawless credentials, which probably explains why noted car collector (and known fashion dabbler) Ralph Lauren has one in his private watch collection. "It gives presence and status on the wrist," says Edward Faber. "A guy can't bring a car into the boardroom, but maybe he can bring that aura." Like the 911, which gets a mechanical upgrade every few years while retaining its classic profile, this Porsche has received the occasional tech enhancement—the last came in 2004—though its exterior is reassuringly unchanged.
